Wet Plate Demo: Scott Schroeder will be at the house doing a demo of the Wet Plate Collodion Process at about 11am on Sat (25th) until about 1pm. Please come by some time prior to 11am so we can get started and show people how much fun this process is. I'll be there to assist Scott in any way I can.

In case anyone wants to sport a Tshirt before or after the shindig, I decided to waste some time and make some Tshirts on CafePress. See them here. http://www.cafepress.com/txaltshindig

When: Friday, Oct. 24th - Sunday, Oct. 26th, 2008. Main shindig will be on Saturday the 25th starting noon-ish. Possible shooting gatherings on friday, saturday morn, and/or sunday.

Where: 357 Mystic Shores Blvd. Spring Branch, TX 78070 - Located in the Texas Hill Country right on the shores of Canyon Lake. Located just north of San Antonio. See directions section below.

What: The format is relaxed to say the very least. Have a chance to share some work, have some good conversation, drink some good beer (bring some to help with the supply), have some good bbq (a few $$ to help pay for this would be appreciated), join some fellow photographers out shooting together and perhaps even have some demoes of some processes - a wet plate collodion demo if the portable darkroom can get assembled by then or if I can get a fellow wet plater to demo it.

The last get together had a helluva attendance, people showed off everything from tricolor gum prints, to silver prints, to photogravures, to platinum/palladiums, to a 20x24 ruby ambrotype.

For those that couldn't make it to the last one, it was a wonderful time (and thanks to Mr. Clay "turnipista" Harmon for his generous hosting). I'm hoping we can continue along the same lines, a casual relaxed gathering, no strict schedule, all in all a good time for all.

I'm thinking that a photography get together is a great reason to get out and shoot together. There are an innumerable amount of places to shoot in this region of Texas. Along with help from some fellow Texas photographers, I've accumulated a small list of places to possibly go shooting. Lets try and get some small groups together to go out shooting (thanks to Mike Castles for the help accumulating some options).
